The overdrive circuit uses progressive discrete gain stages to the soft clip the signal, generating subtle low-order harmonics. The clipping is smooth and exceptionally responsive to picking dynamics, without the intermodulation and fizzy high-order harmonics generated by many other designs.
Its high sensitivity to playing dynamics means that you can extend your range of expression just by varying your picking technique. Play lightly for a beautiful, chimey clean tone, dig on for creamy distortion, or coax out tones anywhere in between, just by varying how you play.
It's equally sensitive to your guitar's pickups and control settings, so you can get anything from a juicy, harmonic-laden lead sound to a barely-breaking twang with just by tweaking the guitar's volume control.
The additional two band EQ controls allow a finer degree of tuning than other single tone control designs.
